Rental Contract
The time has come to move on to the next place, and you need to end your rental contract. How do you give notice?
To end your rental contract, you must give a minimum of 90 days' notice before vacating the property.
You must send the cancellation letter to your landlord via registered mail (Einschreiben). Instructions on how to purchase this postage are described below.
Also, ask your landlord for a pre-move-out inspection. Doing a preliminary inspection will allow you the time to repair any issues they find, saving you time and money.
Landlords may hold a portion of your deposit for your Nebenkosten and any damages. Knowing what things the landlord expects you to repair before handing over the apartment will give you a good idea of how much of your deposit you can request be returned to you upon moving out.
