Bicycles in Stuttgart

Stuttgart, Germany, is a vibrant city with a rich culture and history. It is also an excellent city for cyclists, with plenty of bike lanes and trails to explore. Recently, the city has become increasingly bicycle-friendly, making it an ideal destination for cyclists of all abilities. Stuttgart is home to an extensive network of bike lanes and trails, making it easy to get around the city on two wheels. The city also has several bike-sharing programs, making it easy to rent a bicycle for an afternoon or a day. Several bike paths run through the town, allowing cyclists to explore the city's parks, gardens, and other attractions. In addition, Stuttgart offers several mountain biking trails for those looking for a more challenging ride. These trails are designed for more experienced cyclists, with rugged terrain and stunning views. The city also has several bicycle shops, making it easy to find the right bike and accessories or to rent an E-bike. In addition, there are service stations at many train stops.

Traveling with a Bicycle on Public Transportation

Knowing the rules of riding a bicycle on trains or buses can be a little confusing. Hopefully, this will help clarify when and on which lines bikes are allowed.  

Stuttgart is a bicycle-friendly city with many roads dedicated to bikes only. Google Maps offers the option to select your transportation mode by bicycle, and VVS also provides a cycle planner on their website.

Bicycles are allowed free of charge except for the following times:

 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Bicycles are allowed free of charge at all times. However, only uphill from Marienplatz to Degerloch, and no loading or unloading along the way is possible. 

Load bicycle on the bike platform located at the front or back of the train.

Bicycles are not allowed on the buses within Stuttgart.

In the following cities, two bicycles are allowed on the bus free of charge at certain times.
